Randy's Contest entry for Georgia's Dept. Of Agriculture's Feline Friend car license plate was recently selected from over 200 submissions. Her painting of black and white cat, "HOPE", from her local SPCA shelter, will be seen on specialty tags beginning in March 2009. In addition to the honor of seeing her artwork "driving by", proceeds benefit the Spay and Neuter program. A cash prize was awarded and Randy donated a portion back to the SPCA where HOPE was housed. She has since been adopted as have several other cats due to the large publicity brought by this contest. It was truly a WIN-WIN situation for all!
Hope's "Cinderella" story may be a featured segment in an upcoming TV show in 2010. Stay tuned!
Randy and "Miley" at "Bark in the Park", a pet vendor event
in my hometown of Duluth, GA 7/08. Hundreds of dogs and owners viewed
my "Are you Pet Crazy?" booth and admitted they were!
Welcome! I'm Randy, the Pet Crazy artist from Georgia.Though I've been artistic and creative all my life, my education and 20+ year professional career was NOT art related. After raising a first son and then giving birth to TRIPLETS years later, I needed an outlet for my creativity and something I could do from home with flexibility. The past 8 years I have done commissioned pastel portraits of children and animals and continue to enjoy that (A Moment in Time Portraits, no website yet!).
After the passing of our sweet 14 year old sheltie, we recently added a mini-golden doodle puppy to our family named "Miley" (yes, as in Disney's Hannah Montana fame!). I am totally smitten and amazed at her youthful antics and the dynamics with our two older cats (including "Pi-cat-sso" below and Top Cat (in Gallery). I painted Miley "crazy" for my daughter's Luau themed room (see on the home page) and hence, "Pet Crazy Portraits" was born. I love the combination of fine art, craft, and humor. The possibilities are absolutely endless!
